Method Road Affordable Housing Development

Project Type

Affordable Housing

Date

Q2 2024

Casey played a pivotal leadership role in advancing an affordable housing and supportive services development for youth transitioning out of foster care, delivering a 10-unit mixed-use construction project designed to stabilize lives and expand opportunity. The project integrates residential units with on-site office, community, and programmatic space to support nonprofit service delivery - ensuring housing is paired with wraparound resources critical to long-term success.

As Vice Chair of the CASA Board of Directors, Casey helped led sustained advocacy and strategic lobbying efforts across local, state, and federal levels, aligning policymakers, public agencies, and nonprofit stakeholders around a shared mission to address housing insecurity for vulnerable youth. Through these collaborations, CASA was able to secure than $2.4 million in public funding, including $700,000 from the City of Raleigh, $760,000 from Wake County, and $1 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Economic Development Initiatives Subcommittee, transforming vision into action.

The project broke ground in early 2024 and is strategically located along multiple public transit routes and adjacent to North Carolina State University and Meredith College - enhancing access to education, employment, and community resources. The development stands as a model for equitable, transit-oriented affordable housing, demonstrating how policy leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and mission-driven advocacy can deliver tangible, life-changing results.
